For "One Battle After Another," the makeup and hair team was up for contemporary makeup and special makeup prosthetics.
Arjen Tuiten, who was nominated for the special makeup prosthetics, used prosthetics, contact lenses, and dentures for Sean Penn's character, Colonel Lockjaw, in the film's third act. This was after Lockjaw survived a very serious car crash.
In "Frankenstein," Mike Hill, the prosthetics artist, avoided making the character look like a traditional zombie.
Instead, he used 42 prosthetic pieces to change Jacob Elordi's face into the creature created by Guillermo del Toro.
On "Wicked: For Good," Francis Hannon had a tough job.
She had to make sure Cynthia Erivo's character, Elphaba, stayed green. She also worked with Mark Coulier to transform Jonathan Bailey into the Scarecrow and Ethan Slater into the Tin Man. Slater's face had 11 prosthetic pieces, including cheekbone pieces that changed his look and more to adjust his jawline. The whole process took about four hours.
For "Weapons," the team made prosthetics that showed the hidden danger behind Aunt Gladys's glasses.
Amy Madigan's character needed a fierce look, like an animal hunting its prey.
Other nominated films include "Bugonia," "Marty Supreme," "Superman," and "Battle of a Small Player."
It's interesting to note that "Frankenstein," "Marty Supreme," "One Battle After Another," "Sinners," "The Smashing Machine," and "Wicked: For Good" are the only films that matched the Oscar shortlist.
On television, there was a tie for the best contemporary makeup in a TV series or limited movie for TV, leading to six nominations.
The final season of Netflix's "Stranger Things" got four nominations, including one for the Discover x "Stranger Things" ad in the commercial category.
Lady Gaga's makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, was also nominated for her work on the "Abracadabra" music video.
The 13th Annual MUAHS Guild Awards is sponsored by L'Oréal Groupe and Giovanni Eco Chic Beauty.
The winners will be celebrated at a Valentine's Day awards gala on February 14, 2026, at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
