Among the first-day performances, the movie had the highest opening day of 2025 in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Iceland, New Zealand, Indonesia (non-local), Thailand (non-local), and several smaller European countries.

The $43.1 million total doesn’t include China, where the film opened today after limited previews on Wednesday in the Cinity format and Premier Lounge Format (PLF) on Thursday.
The estimated Friday box office in China is about $17.1 million, which would put it in first place. That would make it the third-highest opening day for a studio film since *Avatar: The Way of Water* in 2022, behind *Zootopia 2* and *Fast X* in 2023. Early social scores are strong with Maoyan rating it 9.4 (higher than the first *Avatar* and above *Way of Water*’s 9.0) and TPP at 9.5 (higher than *Avatar*’s 9.3 and *Way of Water*’s 9.2).
On Wednesday, France was a key market, with *Fire and Ash* opening at No. 1 and taking 50% of the market share, with 75% of the box office coming from 3D and premium formats.
In Germany, the movie took 67% market share at No. 1, with 80% of sales from 3D and premium. In Italy, it started at No. 1 with a 72% market share (44% from 3D and premium).
Also on Wednesday, Korea opened at No. 1 as the second-largest studio start of 2025 with a 72% market share.
On Thursday, Australia opened at No. 1 with a 62% market share.
All Latin American markets opened at No. 1, including Mexico (68% market share) and Brazil (70% market share).
After the first two days, the Top 10 markets are France ($5.5M), Germany ($4.7M), Korea ($3.4M), Mexico ($2.7M), Australia ($2.5M), Italy ($2.2M), Indonesia ($1.8M), Brazil ($1.6M), Thailand ($1.4M), and Taiwan ($1M).
Note that Korea’s total through today is up to $5.4M, but Friday’s estimate isn’t included in the international total above.
Along with China, *Fire and Ash* has also opened in the UK, Spain, Japan, Poland, Turkey, India, and Vietnam.
