Conjuring Prequel Movie Casts Young Ed and Lorraine Warren, Sets 2027 Release

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren are making a comeback in a new movie called "The Conjuring: First Communion," which is part of the horror series made by Warner Bros.and New Line.

Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix will play the young versions of Ed and Lorraine, replacing Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who have been acting as the adult versions of the characters in several popular movies.

The movie is set to come out on September 10, 2027, and will be directed by Rodrigue Huart.

It is expected to show the early days of the ghost hunting couple. The screenplay is written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who also wrote the previous two "Conjuring" films, including "The Nun II" from 2023 and "The Conjuring: Last Rites" this September.

The "Conjuring" series has become the most successful horror franchise ever, with over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office earnings across nine movies, including spin-offs such as "Annabelle" and "The Nun." Last year's "The Conjuring: Last Rites" was announced as the final movie in the series, but its huge success, earning over $487 million globally, made it clear that the series would continue.

James Wan created the supernatural universe, and Peter Safran has been a producer for every movie in the series.

He will return to produce this prequel, along with John Rickard, Natalia Safran, and Romel Adam as executive producers.

Garrett Wareing is currently acting in Netflix's Western series "Ransom Canyon" and was in Lionsgate's Stephen King adaptation "The Long Walk." Amanda Fix has recently appeared in "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma," which premiered at Cannes, and the Duffer brothers' Netflix show "Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen."
