The Blair Witch Project’ Remake Sets 2027 Release

A fresh version of "The Blair Witch Project" is set to scare moviegoers next fall.

Lionsgate, which is supporting this new supernatural thriller, has set the movie to open on September 24, 2027.


Not much about the story has been shared yet, but Adam Fogelson, the head of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, called it a "new vision" that will "bring this horror classic back to a new generation."  

Dylan Clark, who started his career on YouTube, is directing the movie, and Chris Thomas Devlin wrote the script.


Originally released in 1999, "The Blair Witch Project" is one of the most successful independent films ever made.
It made almost $250 million worldwide, even though it had a very small budget.The film uses "found footage," which means it looks like real home video, to tell the story of three student filmmakers who vanish while making a movie about the Blair Witch legend.

The remake is being produced by the original creators, Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale, as well as original cast members Joshua Leonard and Michael C.
Williams.They will also work with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Steven Schneider.Jason Blum and James Wan, the founders of Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, are among the producers, along with Roy Lee, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath.

The original "Blair Witch Project" had a 2000 sequel called "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2," which didn't do as well as the first film.
There was also a 2016 remake directed by Adam Wingard.

Lionsgate has a Blair Witch-themed escape room in Las Vegas called Escape Blair Witch.
