Cannes Festival Adds More Films to 2026 Lineup, Including ‘Victorian Psycho’ Starring Maika Monroe, and Diego Luna’s ‘Ashes’

Cannes Film Festival has added more movies to its schedule. Among them is Zachary Wigon's horror film "Victorian Psycho," starring Maika Monroe, and Judith Godrèche's first feature film, "A Girl’s Story," which is part of the Un Certain Regard section.

"Victorian Psycho" follows Winifred Notty, an eccentric young governess who arrives at a remote gothic manor called Ensor House, according to the film's description.
As she gets used to her new life at Ensor House, the staff starts disappearing, and the people who own the house begin to wonder if there's something wrong with Winifred. The film also features Thomasin McKenzie, Jason Isaacs, Amy De Bruhn, and Jacobi Jupe, who was in the movie "Hamnet." The film is produced by Dan Kagan, who made "Longlegs," under his Traffic label, along with Sebastien Raybaud, who worked on "Greenland: Migration," in partnership with Anton and Wigon, with help from Anonymous Content.

Other new additions include Diego Luna's "Ashes," which is in the Special Screenings.
Based on Brenda Navarro's book "Eating Ashes," it's a Spanish-language drama starring Anna Díaz, Adriana Paz, Laura Gómez, and Charlie Rowe.

"A Girl's Story" is based on Annie Ernaux's autobiography about a girl who leaves her village in 1958 to work at a summer camp where she is seduced by an older man.
Another book by Ernaux, "Happening," was adapted into a movie by Audrey Diwan and won the Golden Lion at Venice. Also in the Un Certain Regard section is "Titanic Ocean," a coming-of-age story about teenage girls training to be mermaids in Japan, directed by Konstantina Kotzamani. The lineup also includes two animated films: Leah Nelson's "Tangles" in Special Screenings and Olivier Clert's "Lucy Lost" in Family Screening.

As Variety reported earlier, James Gray's "Paper Tiger" has also joined the lineup and will compete for the Palme d'Or.
The film stars Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, and Miles Teller. It's a gritty crime thriller about two brothers trying to reach the American dream, but they get involved in a scheme that seems too good to be true. As they face danger and violence, their family is targeted by Russian gangsters. Their relationship starts to break down, and betrayal, which they thought was impossible, becomes a real threat. Neon has acquired the North American rights for this highly anticipated film, which is expected to be one of the most talked about at Cannes.
