Sophie Turner Injury Pauses Production on Prime Video ‘Tomb Raider’ Series

Sophie Turner got hurt while filming her role in the new "Tomb Raider" series for Prime Video, which caused a short break in production.

Amazon MGM Studios shared a statement on Sunday saying, "Sophie Turner recently suffered a minor injury.
As a precaution, production has briefly paused so she can recover. We expect to resume filming as soon as she's ready."

Although the exact nature of her injury hasn't been revealed, Turner told SiriusXM host Julia Cunningham that she discovered she has a long-term back issue while training for the role.
She trained five days a week for eight hours each day since February 2025.

The "Game of Thrones" actress is part of a big cast that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.

Showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who created the series, said in an earlier statement, "Tomb Raider has a lot of famous characters.
I'm excited to bring some of my favorite ones to the screen while also introducing a few new characters of our own. This cast is better than I ever imagined!"

The show is being produced by Crystal Dynamics, Amazon MGM, Wells Street Productions, Story Kitchen, and Legendary Television.
The executive producers include Phoebe Waller-Bridge, co-showrunner Chad Hodge, Jonathan van Tulleken, Jenny Robbins, Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, and Michael Scheel.
