Mike Flanagan has already made some great adaptations of Stephen King stories, like *Gerald's Game*, *Doctor Sleep*, and *The Life Of Chuck*. There's also *Carrie* and *The Dark Tower* TV series coming up. So, you could say he might have been tempted to stop doing more King stories. But then he got a chance to do a new version of one of King's best novellas, *The Mist*, which was already adapted once before by Frank Darabont. That's a really big opportunity. And according to Deadline, Flanagan is now making a new *The Mist* movie for Warner Bros.
Flanagan is writing and directing this new version.
Right now, he's also working on a DC movie called *Clayface* and the next *Exorcist* movie. *The Mist* was first shown in 2007 with Frank Darabont's version, which Alexander Godfrey from Empire called one of the best movies of the 21st century. Later, there was a ten-episode series, but it didn't get as good reviews. We don't know yet what Flanagan will do with the story, but it's about a group of people trapped in a store, trying to stay human while a thick fog hides terrifying creatures. The story deals with religion, trauma, and what makes us human — all things Flanagan is really good at.
We don't know who will be in the movie or when it will come out.
But with all the King stories he's already made and more coming, Flanagan is now part of a group of top King movie-makers, right up there with Rob Reiner and Frank Darabont. Keep an eye out for more news about *The Mist* soon.
