Baldur’s Gate’ HBO Series in the Works From ‘The Last of Us’ Co-Creator Craig Mazin

HBO is working on a TV show based on Hasbro's fantasy role-playing video game series called "Baldur's Gate." Craig Mazin, who created and is the showrunner for HBO's successful video game adaptation "The Last of Us," will be the showrunner and executive producer for this new series. Mazin is also known for creating the 2019 limited series "Chernobyl." He will work with Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O'Connor, and Gabriel Marano, who is the head of television at Hasbro Entertainment.

"Baldur's Gate" is part of the "Dungeons & Dragons" franchise.

 The first game in the series came out in 1998. The latest game, "Baldur's Gate 3," was released in 2023 and was very successful, both with critics and fans. It won all five major Game of the Year awards and had over 15 million players.

Mazin shared his thoughts in a statement, saying, "After spending nearly 1000 hours in the amazing world of 'Baldur's Gate 3,' it's a dream to continue the story that Larian and Wizards of The Coast created.

 I'm a huge fan of 'D&D' and the way Swen Vincke and his team brought it to life. I can't wait to help bring 'Baldur's Gate' and all its amazing characters to life with respect and love. I'm really thankful to Gabe Marano and his team at Hasbro for trusting me with this important property."
