The movie isn’t exactly based on the original four books from the 1950s, but it’s inspired by them.
Amy Sherman-Palladino, who created "Gilmore Girls," will direct the film. She wrote the script with Hannah Marks and Linda Woolverton.
Hannah Minghella, who works at Netflix, said, "Eloise has been loved for a long time, since the 1950s and even now, when families go to New York, they always visit The Plaza.
It’s a big honor to bring this character back with Amy and Ryan, who both have the same kind of fun and charm as Eloise. This movie will be funny, touching, and a great family film."
The first "Eloise" book came out in 1955.
The story follows a young girl living at the top of the Plaza Hotel. In the 2000s, new books were published by Simon & Schuster, and there were also two Disney movies, where Sofia Vassilieva played Eloise and Julie Andrews played her nanny.
Ryan Reynolds will help make the movie through his company, Maximum Effort, along with George Dewey, Ashley Fox, and Johnny Pariseau.
Linda Woolverton will also be a producer, and Molly Milstein will be the executive producer for Maximum Effort.
MRC will work with Hilary Knight, who is the original illustrator of the "Eloise" books and is 99 years old.
They’ll also work with Kay Thompson’s family and Simon & Schuster.
Ryan Reynolds is represented by WME, and Amy Sherman-Palladino is represented by CAA.
Mae Schenk is represented by Paradigm and Goodman Genow.
