The special will celebrate Helen Mirren, a three-time Golden Globe winner who has also won an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Tony.
The event will be shown on CBS and also available to stream on Paramount+.
Mirren is the latest in a long list of famous people who have received the DeMille Award.
The award has been given since 1952 to recognize the lifetime achievements of some of Hollywood's most famous people. The DeMille Award will be the main event of "Golden Eve," which will also honor the Carol Burnett Award recipient, whose name hasn't been announced yet. This special will help kick off the celebrations for the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards.
Helen Hoehne, the president of the Golden Globes, said, "Helen Mirren is a force of nature, and her career is nothing short of extraordinary.
Her amazing performances and dedication to her work continue to inspire many artists and audiences. It's a big honor to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award."
Mirren has had a very long and successful career that has lasted more than six decades.
She has worked in film, TV, and theater. She won Golden Globe Awards for her role in "The Queen," where she played Queen Elizabeth II, and for her work in the TV shows "Elizabeth I" and "Losing Chase." Mirren is one of very few actors who have won an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Tony. In 2003, she was made a Dame of the British Empire for her work in the arts.
"Golden Eve" is a new special that builds on the success of last year's "Golden Gala," which honored Viola Davis and Ted Danson.
The 2026 special will be even more exciting and fun, with special looks back at past work, rare old clips, and heartfelt thanks from friends, coworkers, and people in the industry. This special will be a major part of Golden Week, a new project by Paramount and Dick Clark Productions that brings together different programs and events across various platforms leading up to the Golden Globes.
The DeMille Award is named after the famous filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille.
It has been given to 69 of the most important people in the entertainment industry, including Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey, Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, and Barbra Streisand. The Carol Burnett Award, which started in 2019 to recognize great achievements in television, will also be presented during the "Golden Eve" broadcast. This year's winner of the Burnett Award has not yet been announced.
The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by comedian and actress Nikki Glaser, will be the first major awards show of the 2026 season.
The ceremony will continue the tradition of honoring the best in film, TV, and for the first time, podcasting. Some of the top contenders for awards this year include Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another," Chloé Zhao's "Hamnet," Ryan Coogler's "Sinners," and others.
Variety's parent company, Penske Media Corporation, owns the Golden Globes producer, Dick Clark Prods., in a joint venture with Eldridge.
