New ‘Final Destination’ Movie in the Works with ‘Bloodlines’ Co-Writer

New Line isn’t trying to stop death. In fact, they’re bringing even more of it.

Warner Bros. is moving forward with a sequel to its horror movie Final Destination: Bloodlines.
They’ve hired the movie’s co-writer, Lori Evans Taylor, to write the next film in the series.

This comes after Bloodlines, which came out in May, made over $286 million worldwide, with more than $138.1 million from the U.S.
That movie was the sixth in the Final Destination series and the first since 2011.

It was the biggest success in the series so far.
Its domestic earnings were more than double the next highest, which was 2009’s The Final Destination.

Taylor was a major part of writing the script, which she co-wrote with Guy Busick (Ready or Not) based on a story by Taylor, Busick, and Jon Watts, who directed Spider-Man: Homecoming and was closely involved in Bloodlines.
The film was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.

Craig Perry, who has been a key producer and leader of the Final Destination franchise, and Sheila Hanahan Taylor, a long-time veteran of the series, are back producing.
They’re joined by Watts and his wife, Dianne McGunigle, as well as Toby Emmerich. (Fun fact: Watts and McGunigle’s first date was watching a Final Destination movie.)

Warren Zide is also an executive producer.

The Final Destination franchise was a big hit for New Line in the early 2000s.
The idea was easy to reuse from movie to movie, place to place, and character to character. Each film followed someone who could see the future of a terrible event and tried to prevent it, saving others along the way. But eventually, Death, portrayed as an unstoppable force, would come for those who survived.

The series has made over $983 million worldwide, making it New Line’s third-largest horror franchise, behind The Conjuring Universe, which made over $2.3 billion, and the It films, which earned more than $1.2 billion.

Lori Evans Taylor is one of the few women making a name in the horror industry.
She adapted Carla Norton’s serial killer novel The Edge of Normal, which finished filming in spring 2025 with Chloë Grace Moretz and Carlota Pereda.

Her other credits include the psychological thriller Cellar Door and her directorial debut, Bed Rest, a supernatural thriller starring Melissa Barrera.
She also adapted I Am Still Alive for Universal, with Ben Affleck attached to star and produce.

She is represented by WME, Kaplan/Perrone, and McKuin, Frankel.
