The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences declared on Wednesday that it will stream the upcoming Oscar ceremony live for the first time on Hulu.
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST, ABC will broadcast the 97th Academy Awards live, and Hulu and other broadcast outlets around the world will stream the event as well. Next day, the full telecast will also be accessible on Hulu.
Conan O'Brien, a comedian and former "Late Night" star, will host the event for the first time.
When the news was released on November 15, Academy President Janet Yang and AMPAS CEO Bill Kramer called O'Brien "incomparable."
"With his great sense of humor, passion for movies, and experience with live television, he is the ideal person to help lead our global celebration of film." In a joint statement, Kramer and Yang said, "His extraordinary ability to engage audiences will unite viewers to do what the Oscars do best—honor the incredible films and filmmakers of this year."
Hamish Hamilton is the live event's director, Katy Mullan is the executive producer, and Raj Kapoor is back as showrunner and executive producer.
The red carpet show will be broadcast live at 6:30 p.m. EST/3:30 p.m. PST.
Conclave, Anora, and Emilia Perez
The Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles will host the 97th Academy Awards, which will be broadcast live on ABC and in more than 200 countries across the globe.
On January 17, the Oscar nominations will be revealed, and on February 10, the nominees' luncheon will take place. Members of AMPAS will cast their votes between February 11 and 18.
Jacques Audiard's "Emilia Pérez," Brady Corbet's "The Brutalist," and Sean Baker's "Anora," as well as the papal drama "Conclave," Jon M. Chu's box office-destroying adaptation of the Broadway hit "Wicked," and the Colman Domingo-led prison drama "Sing Sing," are some of the 2024 Oscar contenders.
