Scary Movie’ Reboot With Wayans Bros. in the Works at Miramax and Paramount

The comedy series known for parodying horror films like "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is getting a new season. Both Miramax and Paramount made the announcement on Tuesday that they are working on it.

For the first time in 18 years, the Wayans brothers are coming together to write a new script for the reboot of the franchise. Scary Movie," written and produced by the Wayans brothers and Rick Alvarez, was one of the highest-grossing R-rated horror films ever. The highest opening for an R-rated horror film and a Black director at the time was $42.5 million.

Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans created the Scary Movie film series. The first two films were written and directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. The first two films were written and starred Marlon and Shawn. This will be the franchise's sixth film.

The studio behind the franchise is Miramax, and Paramount Pictures is distributing the movie worldwide. Miramax has Becky Sloviter in charge of oversight. The first look agreement between Paramount Pictures and Miramax includes "Scarey Movie."

The psychological sports thriller "Him," directed by Justin Tipping and produced by Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions, will star Marlon Wayans and be released in September 2025. He is currently touring the country on his Wild Child Tour.
