Variety reports that Prime Video is developing a new "RoboCop" television series. Peter Ocko will create and direct the show, and James Wan will join as a producer. The series' synopsis can be found here:
"To combat rising crime, a large tech conglomerate teams up with the local police department to introduce a police officer who is both a man and a machine,"
Ocko has written classic shows like "Parker Lewis Can't Lose," "Dead Like Me," and "Pushing Daisies" for decades in Hollywood. He most recently served as showrunner for the television series "Lodge 49." Ocko also ran the show "Moonhaven" as showrunner. Based on his filmography, it is difficult to determine his style for the "RoboCop" series. The only option is to wait and see.
The television series "RoboCop" has been around for a while. A live-action spinoff of the film existed in the 1990s in the form of a brief series. Not to mention the children's animated series "RoboCop," which came out during a time when things rated R were made into shows for kids. Both "Rambo" and "Toxic Avenger" had animated spinoffs. The time was wild.
Obviously, this is still very early in the TV show's development, but let's hope it comes to pass. It might actually be beneficial, who knows?
