Legally Blonde’ Prequel Series Sets Open Casting Call for Young Elle Woods

There are no issues here. The lead role in Amazon Prime Video's "Legally Blonde" prequel series is currently open for casting.

On Wednesday, Reese Witherspoon made the announcement via Instagram. The hunt for the Elle Woods of high school has officially begun! The post was written by Witherspoon. We're making the casting process completely OPEN with our friends at @primevideo. You can submit your auditions at the link in my bio. I'm SO excited to see all of your fantastic takes on everyone's favorite Gemini vegetarian!

The prequel, currently titled "Elle," was ordered by Prime Video in May. According to the series' logline, it "follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first 'Legally Blonde' film."

Laura Kittrell is the creator of the show, and she will also be the showrunner and executive producer. Through Candle Media's Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter serve as executive producers. Marc Platt and Lauren Kisilevsky will also serve as executive producers. Witherspoon portrayed Elle Woods in the two "Legally Blonde" films and will produce. The Amanda Brown book of the same name served as the basis for the first movie. The movie, which came out in 2001, was a huge success and made over $140 million worldwide. Witherspoon produced rather than starred in the 2009 straight-to-video film "Legally Blondes," which followed the sequel in 2003. 2007 saw the debut of a musical adaptation on Broadway.
