Marvel’s ‘Daredevil,’ DC’s ‘Penguin’ on Hold Amid Writers Strike

Sometimes, superheroes just can't get through difficult situations on their own. Daredevil on Disney+ and Marvel: The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Born Again and Penguin, a DC/Max collaboration, will cease production for the duration of the writers' strike.

After the two series were repeatedly halted due to writers' picketing, the double shuttering occurs.

Daredevil: The strike, which began on May 2 and stopped production on films like Lionsgate and Aziz Ansari's Good Fortune, has resulted in the closure of Born Again and Penguin. Additionally, due to a lack of script completion, two Marvel Studios films—Thunderbolts and Blade—decided to postpone production.

MOVIES Disney Fills Out Movie Calendar Before Ever Daredevil: "Avatar 5" Lands 2031 Release (No Joke) The 18-episode Netflix series Born Again will bring Charlie Cox back to the role he played for three seasons. Vincent D'Onofrio is back as Wilson Fisk/Boss, while Jon Bernthal returns as Candid Palace/The Punisher. The series is written by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, and it also stars Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, and Michael Gandolfini.

The DC antagonist is played by Colin Farrell in The Penguin. The eight-episode series is a spinoff of Matt Reeves' co-written and directed The Batman from last year. The crime drama stars Dylan Clark, Farrell, Lauren LeFranc, who wrote the scripts and serves as showrunner, Craig Zobel, who directs the first three episodes, and Bill Carraro. Reeves is exec producing the show. Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O'Connell are among the cast members, with Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen appearing in recurring roles.

Daredevil: The Penguin and Born Again are both anticipated to debut in 2024.
