Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Overtakes ‘Star Wars: Force Awakens’ as Highest-Grossing Movie of All Time at Domestic Box Office

All hail Peter Parker."Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has reached a big box office success, beating 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as the biggest movie ever in North America.

"The Force Awakens" was the top-grossing movie in the US for over ten years with $936 million.
Now, Tom Holland's latest Spider-Man movie has passed that with $936.773 million after 47 days in theaters.

Now the big question is whether "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" can become the first movie ever to make $1 billion in the US.
But that might not happen soon without a re-release.

Around the world, "Brand New Day" has made a huge total of $2.45 billion.
It's the third-highest-grossing movie ever, behind 2009's "Avatar" and "Avengers: Endgame," but ahead of "Avatar: The Way of Water" and "Titanic."

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day," Holland's fourth solo movie as Peter Parker, has been doing really well since late July.
It opened with a record $360 million in North America and $932 million worldwide in its first weekend. It made $1 billion in just six days and reached $2 billion after three weekends. It's the second movie to reach $1 billion quickly, behind "Avengers: Endgame," which took 11 days. The movie also broke records for reaching $700 million in 13 days, $800 million in 19 days, and $900 million in 36 days. It's only the second movie to hit $900 million at home.

The movie was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who also directed "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." It starts right after "Spider-Man: No Way Home," where the world forgot Peter Parker.
People were really excited to see what happened next. And they were curious about who Sadie Sink was playing.Spoiler: She plays Jean Grey. The movie stayed popular because people loved it and talked about it a lot.

"Brand New Day" is a big win for Marvel, which had some bad movies in 2025 like "Captain America: Brave New World" and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps." Marvel will build on the success of "Spider-Man 4" with "Avengers: Doomsday" in December, which brings together almost all the superheroes and brings back Robert Downey Jr.
as Doctor Doom, not Iron Man.

'Obsession' Star Inde Navarrette Receives IMDb "Breakout" STARmeter Award at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival

IMDb, the most popular and trusted source for movie, TV show, and celebrity information, gave the IMDb "Breakout" STARmeter Award to Inde Navarrette, who stars in the supernatural horror movie Obsession, at the Getty Images Portrait Studio Presented by IMDb and IMDbPro during the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. The IMDb STARmeter Awards honor actors who are most loved by fans, based on the page views of IMDb's over 250 million monthly visitors worldwide.

Navarrette had an amazing year thanks to her role as Nikki in Obsession, written and directed by Curry Barker.
The movie has become a big part of pop culture. It was made for just $750,000 but has made over $512 million worldwide, making it the fifth-highest-grossing horror film of all time, the highest-grossing film ever made with a budget under $1 million, and the highest-grossing live-action English-language original film of the 2020s.The movie has a 7.8/10 rating from nearly 367,000 IMDb users. It has stayed on top of the IMDb MOVIEmeter chart and is expected to be one of the top IMDb titles of the year.

Prime Video in Talks to Take Over Emmys Telecast

Another major awards ceremony might soon be moving to a streaming service.

The Television Academy and Prime Video are discussing the possibility of Prime Video becoming the new home for the Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast, according to sources from The Hollywood Reporter.

If this agreement is reached, it would be the first time in the Emmys' history that the ceremony does not air on a traditional broadcast network.

The Television Academy's previous eight-year agreement with ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC ended Monday night with NBC hosting the 78th Emmys.

The Emmys have been broadcast by these four networks since the mid-1990s.

If an agreement is reached between the Television Academy and Prime Video, the Emmys would become the second of the major EGOT awards shows to move away from network TV.

The Oscars will be moving to YouTube starting in 2029 through a five-year deal with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.Given the timing of the Oscars deal, the Emmys are likely to be the next major awards show to move to streaming.

Prime Video isn't new to hosting awards events.

It has had the rights to the Academy of Country Music Awards since 2021.The streamer also has a lot of experience with live events through its sports broadcasting rights with the NFL, NBA/WNBA, and NASCAR.

Meanwhile, the Grammy Awards are set to move to ABC, with live streams on Hulu and Disney+, starting next year.

CBS's 10-year deal with the Tony Awards (the T in EGOT) has ended, but the network is still in the middle of a five-year deal with the Golden Globes.
