Inde Navarrette on Meeting Pamela Anderson, Hosting ‘SNL’ and X-Men Stunt Training

Inde Navarrette, who stars in the movie "Obsession," had a very busy weekend. She first went to the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday and then attended the Newport Beach Film Festival on Sunday. The festival continues until Thursday, and Navarrette was one of Variety's 10 Actors to Watch, who were honored at the festival's Honor Brunch.

Speaking to Variety's Marc Malkin at the festival's red carpet, Navarrette said the gala was "amazing." She explained, "You're just overwhelmed and kind of drowning in everybody that you have looked up to, possibly ever, and it's just so lovely meeting people and the reception that 'Obsession' has been getting.
I'm just so honored to go and be with the members of the Academy and just get an inside scoop on what that magnificent world is like."

Navarrette was excited to meet Jessica Lange and Pamela Anderson on Saturday night.
She said, "I spoke to Jessica Lange, who is an icon. And the way that Pamela carries herself with such grace and honesty and just pure creativity and love is exactly who I want to be."

Navarrette's schedule isn't slowing down yet.
She's set to host this year's "Saturday Night Live" Halloween episode with musical guest Gracie Abrams.

"I literally feel like I snuck in," joked Navarrette.
"I'm super excited to keep everything under wraps because I really truly want to make this super fun for the audience. And what I love is when I don't know anything. So I'm really excited to be working with the writers."

Looking ahead, Navarrette is also set to appear in the upcoming MCU "X-Men" film, where she will play Rogue.
She told Malkin she hasn't had direct contact with Anna Paquin, who originally played the role, but feels "the correspondence started when I was younger, when I really fell in love with the 'X-Men' movies in the first place."

On the topic of stunt training for the superhero film, Navarrette said it's a good excuse to get herself in the gym.
"I've always wanted to take part in that sort of a thing," she said."I think it's also a really good excuse to get in the gym.I'm the laziest person, and I am very excited to get up and move my body."
