"East of Eden" reached 6.5 million views in its first four days on Netflix.
That total put the John Steinbeck adaptation at the top of Netflix's weekly TV rankings.
Created by Zoe Kazan and starring Florence Pugh, the show has brought new attention to the 1953 novel, with Penguin Classics experiencing a 200% rise in sales since Netflix announced the project.
The most-watched Netflix title overall during the week of Sept.
28-Oct.4 was on the movies chart: "Unabomber," starring Jacob Tremblay, reached 24.9 million views in its second week of streaming."The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part'" and "Tyler Perry's Doing Life" also ranked higher than the week's top TV titles, coming in second and third on the movies chart with 11.6 million and 9.3 million views, respectively.
On the TV chart, "East of Eden" was followed by "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story," which reached 5.7 million views in its third week of streaming.
Netflix's "A Different World" reboot came in third with 5.1 million views in its second week of streaming, while the unscripted competition series "Wonka's The Golden Ticket" landed in fourth place with 4.3 million views.
"Lego One Piece" debuted in fifth place with 3.8 million views in its first six days, while "The Gentlemen" had its fifth week on the chart in sixth place with 2.9 million views.
"Crew Girl," recently renewed for a second season, was the No.7 title with 2.6 million views.
Rounding out the bottom of the chart was the Sept.
28 edition of "Raw: 2026" (2.5 million views), "The Gentlemen" (1.7 million views), and "Gabby's Dollhouse" Season 14 (also 1.7 million views).
