Amazon Prime Video has officially announced that they are making a TV series based on "Robocop," according to Variety.The series will consist of eight episodes and has been in the works since Amazon bought MGM in 2022.Amazon hopes to use MGM's big collection of movie and TV properties to create new content.
The official summary for the show says, "A big tech company convinces the city to use a powerful robot in its police force — a robot with the mind of a popular, deceased officer."
Peter Ocko is writing, producing, and running the show.
James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett are also producing through Blumhouse Atomic Monster.The original movie creators, Michael Miner and Ed Neumeier, will also be executive producers.Danielle Bozzone from Blumhouse Atomic Monster will be co-producer and oversee the project.Amazon MGM Studios will handle the production.
Wan said, "I've always been a big fan of 'Robocop,' so helping bring this world to TV is a dream.

The "Robocop" story began in 1987 with the first movie, where Peter Weller played the half-human, half-machine police officer.
He came back for the second movie in 1990, and Robert Burke took over for "Robocop 3" in 1993.Nancy Allen played Officer Anne Lewis in all three films.A new version with Joel Kinnaman came out in 2014.There have also been several "Robocop" TV shows, including two animated ones and two live-action ones, along with video games and comic books.
