Metal Gear Solid’ Movie in the Works at Sony From ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Directors

Sony Pictures is making a big movie based on "Metal Gear Solid," a video game that's been around for almost 40 years and hasn't been made into a film yet. The movie will be directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who are known for directing "Final Destination: Bloodlines." They just signed a first-look production deal with Columbia, part of Sony Pictures.

Lipovsky and Stein were very successful with their latest "Final Destination" movie, which brought new life to the horror series and made over $315 million worldwide for New Line Cinema.
Sanford Panitch, the head of Sony Pictures' Motion Picture Group, said they are excited to have the directors join the Sony family. Their company, Wonderlab, is looking for new leaders and plans to make fun, commercial, character-driven, and genre-bending films.

Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing the "Metal Gear" movie.
The game is about special forces trying to destroy a robot that can launch nuclear weapons.

The first-look deal covers all of Sony's film labels and continues the directors' relationship with the studio.
They are working on several projects across different labels, including an animated "Venom" movie for Sony Pictures Animation. They were also previously announced as producing and directing an original sci-fi movie called "The Earthling," along with Eric Heisserer and Scott Glassgold.

Lipovsky and Stein said they are excited to bring Hideo Kojima's characters and world to life.
They are proud to partner with Sony's amazing team and were impressed by the creative and passionate work they saw. They share the same vision as Tom, Sanford, Peter, Louie, Kristine, Damien, Ashley, and everyone else at Sony for making movies that entertain the world.

Lipovsky and Stein are represented by Verve, Ground Control, and lawyer Jamie Feldman.
