Elden Ring’: Alex Garland’s A24 Video Game Movie Reveals Full Cast, 2028 Release Date and It’s Being Shot for Imax

Alex Garland's movie based on the video game "Elden Ring" is coming out in 2028 and is being filmed in Imax. The live-action version of the popular fantasy game, made by A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment, is now in production, with all the details about when it will be released and who is in the cast being shared.

The movie is planned to come out on March 3, 2028.
 Kit Connor, who was in the show "Heartstopper" and was already thought to be returning to work with Garland after "Warfare," has been officially confirmed to be part of the cast. Connor will be joined by Ben Whishaw, who has been in shows like "Black Doves" and "This is Going to Hurt," Cailee Spaeny, who also worked with Garland on "Civil War" and "Alien: Romulus," Tom Burke, known for parts in "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" and "Black Bag," and Havana Rose Liu, who has been in "Tuner" and "Bottoms."

Other big names joining the cast include Sonoya Mizuno, who was in "Ex Machina" and worked with Garland before, Jonathan Pryce, who has appeared in "The Two Popes" and "The Crown," Ruby Cruz, who has been in "Bottoms" and "The Threesome," Nick Offerman from "The Last of Us" and "Margo’s Got Money Troubles," John Hodgkinson from "Dear England" and "Napoleon," Jefferson Hall, known for "House of the Dragon" and "Oppenheimer," Emma Laird, who was in "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" and "A Haunting in Venice," and Peter Serafinowicz, who has worked in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace."


Peter Rice is producing the movie along with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, as well as George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis.


"Elden Ring" was one of the best-reviewed video games ever, launched in 2022.
 It was made by Hidetaka Miyazaki from FromSoftware and based on a mythological story by George R. R. Martin. The game has sold more than 30 million copies and has won over 400 Game of the Year awards.

Garland has been a big fan of the game for a long time and personally reached out to the game's creators, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware, to make a movie based on it.
