Josh Duhamel (known for roles in 'Transformers" and Shotgun Wedding) and Sharlto Copley (who has appeared in District 9 and *Monkey Man*) have joined Daisy Ridley in 'The Good Samaritan', an upcoming action movie directed by Pierre Morel, who also worked on 'Taken 'and Peppermint.
In the film, Daisy Ridley, who was in *Star Wars*, plays Dr. Rosalind Carver, a successful businessperson.
She and her husband, Matt, save a man who is injured and floating off the coast of Indonesia. They don’t realize they are stepping into something dangerous. Within a few hours, Matt is taken by a group of dangerous pirates led by Langbore, played by Sharlto Copley. Rosalind is forced to team up with an ex-mercenary, played by Josh Duhamel, who has his own reasons for taking down the pirates. Together, they uncover a huge illegal trafficking operation.
*The Good Samaritan* is based on an original script by Matthew Ian Cirulnick, who also wrote *Rambo: Last Blood*.
The film is being produced by Mark Canton and Dorothy Canton through their company Canton Entertainment, along with Oakhurst Pictures and Sentient Entertainment. Production is set to start in July.
Highland Film Group is handling the international rights for the film and will be showing it to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.
In the U.S., CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are managing the domestic rights.

The executive producers of *The Good Samaritan* are Pierre Morel, Matthew Ian Cirulnick, Ryan Winterstern, and David Hopwood, along with Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier, and David Lipper from Highland Film Group.
Karley Ferlic from Canton Entertainment is also serving as a co-producer.
Josh Duhamel is currently in *Ransom Canyon* on Netflix.
He has also been in *Not Without Hope* (2025), directed by Joe Carnahan, and *Love, Simon* (2018), directed by Greg Berlanti.
Sharlto Copley is well-known for his roles in *District 9* (2009) and *Chappie* (2015).
He recently appeared in *Monkey Man* (2024) starring Dev Patel and is also in the Netflix series *The Witcher*.
