Brendan Fraser & Rachel Weisz Officially Set For Uni’s Next ‘Mummy’ Movie From Radio Silence; Pic Hits Theaters Early Summer 2028

Oscar winners Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are returning to Universal's The Mummy series. The next movie in the franchise is set for May 19, 2028, according to Universal, who announced the date on Tuesday. The date was previously reserved for an event film, and there are no other big releases scheduled for that time.

Deadline previously shared in November that Fraser and Weisz were in discussions to star in the movie.
The film is directed by Radio Silence and written by David Coggeshall, known for works like The Family Plan and Orphan: First Kill. The story details are still not revealed.

Rachel Weisz appeared in the first two Mummy movies, The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001).
Brendan Fraser starred in the first three movies, including The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008).

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence are directing the film.
This project marks their return to Universal after they directed the 2024 vampire movie Abigail.

Sean Daniel, who has a long association with The Mummy series and helped it earn over $1.8 billion worldwide, is back as a producer.
He produced the first three movies as well as the 2017 reboot starring Tom Cruise.

William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein are producing the film through Project X Entertainment.
Brendan Fraser, Jason F. Brown from Hivemind, and Denis Stewart are executive producers.

Universal's EVP of Production Development, Jay Polidoro, and Director of Production Development, Jacqueline Garell, are overseeing the production.

Radio Silence's upcoming projects include the Searchlight horror sequel Ready or Not, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which is set to premiere at SXSW and open in theaters on March 20.
