Prince Adam is trying to get the Power Sword back in the first preview for the movie "Masters of the Universe." Take a look.
The live-action movie "Masters of the Universe" is made by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, and it will come out only in U.S. theaters on June 5, 2026.
Here's what the official summary says: "After being apart for 15 years, the Power Sword brings Prince Adam (played by Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he finds his home destroyed under the cruel rule of Skeletor (played by Jared Leto).
To save his family and his world, Adam has to team up with his best friends, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and accept his true identity as He-Man — the most powerful person in the universe."
Travis Knight is the director, and the screenplay was written by Chris Butler.
The first draft was written by David Callaham and the Nee brothers, Aaron and Adam Nee. The story was also written by Alex Litvak and Michael Finch.
The movie has Galitzine, Mendes, Leto, Elba, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, and Kristin Wiig voices the character "Roboto."
The producers are Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, Steve Tisch, and DeVon Franklin.
The executive producers are Ynon Kreiz, Bill Bannerman, and David Bloomfield.
Mattel first brought He-Man to the world in 1982 with a toy line called "Masters of the Universe," and the animated series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" came out the next year.
The show was about Prince Adam of Eternia, who turned into the strong and brave He-Man by shouting, "By the Power of Grayskull!"
The series lasted two seasons and 130 episodes, but the story of He-Man continued.
In 1985, the animated movie "The Secret of the Sword" introduced He-Man's sister, She-Ra, who later had her own series called "She-Ra: Princess of Power."
By 1987, both shows ended.
Mattel brought He-Man back three years later with the series "The New Adventures of He-Man." The series was rebooted again in 2002, 2018, and 2021. "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" on Netflix was also rebooted.
