Ryan Reynolds Remaking 1970s Crime Movie ‘Thunderbolt and Lightfoot’ for Amazon MGM (Exclusive)

Ryan Reynolds and Amazon MGM are working together to create a new version of the 1974 action comedy film "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot." The original movie featured Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges.

Ryan Reynolds is planning to star in this remake and will also be producing it through his production company, Maximum Effort.

He is working with writers Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson on the script.

These writers were part of the team that worked on season four of the comedy crime show "Fargo." Shane Reid, who edited the movie "Deadpool & Wolverine," will direct this new version for the first time.

"Thunderbolt & Lightfoot" follows Eastwood's character, a bank robber pretending to be a preacher who is trying to escape his old gang.

He meets Jeff Bridges' character, a thief, and they team up to pull off a new bank heist. However, things don't go as planned.

The film was directed by Michael Cimino, who later won an Academy Award for his movie "The Deer Hunter."

Cimino also wrote the script for "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot." Jeff Bridges received an Academy Award nomination for his performance.

This project could be a great opportunity for Reynolds to work with another top actor.

Some people have suggested that it might be a chance for Reynolds and Hugh Jackman to team up again, which has been a popular idea.

Mileti and Wilson have also worked on shows like "Snowfall" and "The Kingdom."

They are represented by WME and Untitled Entertainment.

Recently, Reynolds joined the cast of Netflix's live-action adaptation of "Eloise," based on the children's book series by Kay Thompson.

He is producing the film with Maximum Effort. He is also a producer on the documentary "John Candy: I Like Me," which shows the life of the late comedian John Candy. The documentary premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and is now available on Amazon.

Reynolds is represented by WME and Sloane Offer.
