Matrix’ Director Lilly Wachowski Isn’t Surprised MAGA Co-Opted the Red Pill: ‘That’s What Fascism Does’

Lilly Wachowski, who co-directed and co-wrote the "Matrix" movies, responded to people from the MAGA group using the "red pill" idea from her films for their political messages.

She talked about this on Thursday's episode of the "So True with Caleb Hearon" podcast.

 She said she wasn't surprised that MAGA decided to use the "Matrix" moment because, in her view, right-wing groups often take things from the left and twist them for their own purposes.

She explained, "They take left-wing ideas and change them to fit their own propaganda, which makes it harder to see the real message."

 She added, "That's what fascism does. And of course, that's going to happen."
