Box Office: ‘Now You See Me 3’ Makes $2.1 Million in Previews, Beating ‘Running Man’ With $1.9 Million

"The Running Man" and "Now You See Me: Now You Don't" are set to compete at the box office this weekend, with both expected to open between $20 million and $25 million.

Paramount's dystopian thriller "The Running Man" made $1.9 million in previews, while Lionsgate's magic heist movie "Now You See Me: Now You Don't" pulled in slightly more, around $2.1 million.

Both films are likely to surpass last week's top movie, Disney's "Predator: Badlands," which is expected to earn between $18 million and $20 million in its second weekend.
That's a usual 50% drop from its first showing, which made $40 million.

"The Running Man" stars Glen Powell and is directed by Edgar Wright.
It's based on a Stephen King sci-fi novel and follows a reality show where people have to avoid capture by authorities for 30 days to win $1 billion. The cast also includes Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Michael Cera, Lee Pace, William H. Macy, Katy O'Brien, Martin Herlihy, Emilia Jones, and others. The movie was co-financed by Domain Entertainment and has a budget of $110 million, so it might need to stay in theaters through Thanksgiving to make a profit.

"Now You See Me: Now You Don't" is the third movie in Lionsgate's heist series, featuring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan, and Isla Fisher.
The group of professional magicians and thieves comes back for another heist, this time bringing in new members like Rosamund Pike, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer and has a budget of about $90 million.
