Ike Turner Jr., a Grammy-winning producer and the son of Ike and Tina Turner, has passed away. He was 67 years old.
Tina’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, told TMZ that Ike Turner Jr. died on Saturday at a hospital in Los Angeles due to kidney failure.
She also mentioned that he had struggled with heart problems for a long time and had a stroke just last month.
She shared a statement with The New York Post: “We are deeply sad to share the news of my cousin, Ike Turner Jr. ‘Junior’ was more than just a cousin to me—he was like a brother.
We grew up together in the same famous home. From a young age, his talent was clear because he wanted to play every instrument. He started with the drums, but my aunt and his mother, Tina Turner, made him take apart his drum kit after each practice. This made him switch to the keys.”
Bullock also said that Ike Turner Jr. went on to help manage Bolic Sound Studios, the recording studios started by his father, Ike Turner.
He became a sound engineer and won a Grammy in 2007 for the best traditional blues album, which was his father’s *Risin’ With the Blues*.
His sister-in-law, Afida Turner, also paid tribute on Instagram: “REST IN PEACE IKE JR: You were an amazing brother-in-law.
I’m glad I got to talk to you on the phone before you left. I love you. RIP
Ike Turner Jr. was born in 1958 to Ike Turner and his first wife, Lorraine Taylor. He
was later adopted by Tina Turner, along with his brother Michael. Tina Turner passed away in 2023, while Ike Sr. died in 2007.
