Oscar-nominated actress Mary McDonnell is set to appear in two upcoming projects.
McDonnell will star in the thriller One Second After and will also appear in Marvel Television's Vision series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress joins previously announced cast members Josh Holloway and Hannah John-Kamen in director Scott Rogers' One Second After.
A co-production between MPI Original Films and Startling Inc., the movie adapts author William R. Forstchen's 2009 sci-fi novel of the same name. McDonnell will portray Jen, the astute mother-in-law to John (Holloway) who looks after his daughters after an electromagnetic pulse attack throws society into chaos.
McDonnell's role in Disney+'s Vision show, which wrapped principal photography over the summer, has not been disclosed.
The series, created by Terry Matalas, is a follow-up to WandaVision and features Paul Bettany as android Vision and James Spader as Ultron. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
One Second After has a script by J. Michael Straczynski (Sense8, Babylon 5) and is set to begin filming this month in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Producers include Rob Pfaltzgraff and Nick Reid for MPI, alongside Matt Kennedy for Startling Inc.
Rogers is known for his work as a stunt coordinator and second unit director on projects such as Tron: Ares and John Wick: Chapter 4.
McDonnell has been nominated for an Academy Award for her roles in Dances With Wolves and Passion Fish.
She is also known for films like Scream 4, Donnie Darko, Independence Day, and Sneakers, as well as her work on series such as The Fall of the House of Usher, Major Crimes, Battlestar Galactica, and Grey's Anatomy. She has received Emmy Award nominations for The Closer and ER.
The actress is represented by Innovative Artists, Anonymous Content, and Wallman Public Relations.
