HARRY POTTER: Matt Smith Responds To Voldemort Casting Rumors As Spoilery New Season 1 Details Are Revealed

The new Harry Potter TV show is currently filming in the UK and is expected to continue until next spring. Thanks to Wizarding World Direct, we now have some new updates about this new version of J.K. Rowling's famous books.

The first season will give more space to explore the story of the Philosopher's Stone and explain why it was moved from Gringotts to Hogwarts.

Nicolas Flamel and his wife are set to appear. The season will also focus more on magical creatures and objects.

Filming inside The Leaky Cauldron is set to start next month, and Dedalus Diggle is expected to appear there for his only scene this season.

Lee Jordan, Dean Thomas, and Oliver Wood have been cast, but details about who is playing them are not yet released.

Earlier reports said that HBO plans to keep Voldemort's actor secret until the show's first season premiere.

Matt Smith, who played in House of the Dragon and Morbius, is a popular choice for Voldemort, but he has denied being part of the show in a recent interview.

Smith said, "Can anyone play him after Ralph [Fiennes]?

He was so good. Hypothetically, who knows? But, following in the footsteps of the great Ralph Fiennes is a very difficult mantle for someone, so good luck to whoever it is. It ain't gonna be me."

In season 1, we'll likely see a flashback of Voldemort from the night Harry's parents were killed and as the face on the back of Professor Quirrell's head.

But Voldemort will take center stage in season 4, which adapts The Goblet of Fire.

Talking to Variety, filmmaker Christopher Columbus, who directed The Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets, said he's not interested in returning to the franchise, but he's envious of the show because it will cover stories he could not in the films.

"There's nothing left for me to do in the world of Potter," he said.

"The great thing about it is that with the first and second, and third books, we wanted to do it all. We wanted to bring all of that onto the screen, and we didn't have the opportunity."

Columbus mentioned that Peeves, the poltergeist, didn't make it into the films because "we just didn't have time to develop the character.

" He expressed regret about not being able to include a scene where Harry and Hermione drink potions and worry they might be poisoned.

"We could never get that incredible scene into the film, and I'm sure it'll be in the HBO series.

So for me, it's an opportunity to bring all those scenes to life," he said.

Columbus also shared his thoughts on J.K. Rowling's comments about the trans community.

"I like to sometimes separate the artist from the art, I think that's important to do," he said. "It's unfortunate, what's happened. I certainly don't agree with what she's talking about. But it's just sad, it's very sad."

The Harry Potter TV series is set to premiere on HBO in 2027.
