Netflix is bringing back the streets of Edinburgh and the world of Dept. Q.
The streaming service has decided to make a second season of Dept. Q, a crime show set in Scotland.
The show features Matthew Goode and was created by Scott Frank, who also made *The Queen’s Gambit*. This decision comes just about two and a half months after the first season started and was well-received by both critics and viewers.
Dept. Q is based on books by Jussi Adler-Olsen.
In the show, Matthew Goode plays Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck, who runs a small team from a basement office in Edinburgh. They solve cases that were once thought impossible. Other actors in the series include Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne, and Jamie Sives.
"We are going downstairs to Dept. Q for a second season," said Rob Bullock, an executive producer from Left Bank Pictures.
"We at Left Bank Pictures nervously await what Scott has in store for his alter-ego Carl Morck, and the other enabling members of team do-lally. We salute Netflix’s courage to let them loose once again."
Scott Frank added, "I’m grateful to the folks at Netflix, as well as our shining cast and crew, for once more risking their careers to enable my folly."
Dept. Q was in Netflix’s top 10 English-language series worldwide for six weeks, with over 222 million hours watched (which is like 27 million people watching the whole season).
In the US, it was watched for 47.57 million hours in four weeks, according to Nielsen.
Scott Frank also writes, directs, and executive produces the show.
Rob Bullock and Charlotte Moore are also executive producers. Mona Qureshi and Manda Levin are in charge of the show for Netflix.
"We are raring to return to Carl Morck and his band of glorious misfits at Dept. Q," said Qureshi and Levin.
"Scott Frank brought us best-in-class storytelling and thrilled Netflix audiences worldwide. We can’t wait to see what Morck and the gang uncover in season two."
