As the Christmas season reaches its peak, Universal's Wicked continues to captivate with its fifth season, raking in £2.5 million for a total of £48.2 million. Disney's Moana 2 came in third with £2 million for a four-week total of £29.7 million.
StudioCanal's Peruvian Paddington held on to fourth place, earning £653,489 in its seventh weekend for a total of £31.3 million. Paramount's Gladiator II rounded out the top five with £497,569, reaching £29.6 million after six weeks.
In sixth place was Black Bear's The Conclave with £331,308 for a total of £4.9 million, while Trafalgar Releasing's Royal Opera House production of Ivanov and Wright's ballet The Nutcracker came in seventh with £227,082. Sony's Craven the Hunter was eighth with £171,942 for a total of £1.2 million, and Park Circus' 75th anniversary re-release Isn't Life Beautiful? was ninth with £140,143. Warner Bros.' Red One earned £130,014 in 10th place, taking its total to £8 million in 7 weeks.
On Christmas Day, Bacrania Media will release Baby John, a Bollywood action movie starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamika Gabi and Jackie Shroff. Entertainment Film Distributor Michael Gracey's Robbie Williams film Better Man will be released in more than 300 cinemas on Boxing Day, while Elysian Film Group will bring Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away back to cinemas. Other new releases include Vertigo Releasing's Thai global hit and Oscar nominee How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies and Met Film Distributor's Venice debut crime thriller The Order, directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult. Universal will also release a sing-along version of Wicked.
The week ends with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on December 27.
