Julia Roberts to Receive Honorary César Award at 50th Edition

At the milestone 50th edition of the César Awards, France's equivalent of the Oscars, Julia Roberts will receive an honorary tribute. On February 28, the event will take place at the Olympia Theater in Paris.

The César academy released a statement that read, "Julia Roberts fascinates, she is a source of inspiration, and she is an icon of world cinema." Julia Roberts is more than just a movie star; she is also a cultural icon, and her influence goes far beyond her acting.

Roberts "enjoyed a string of successes, with roles as varied as they are unforgettable," the academy continued, citing romantic comedies like "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Notting Hill" as well as dramas like "The Pelican Affair," "Erin Brockovich," and "Alone Against All," for which she won the best actress Oscar in 2001. Roberts made her acting debut in 1990 with the role of Vivian Ward in "Pretty Woman."

Steven Soderbergh, with whom she collaborated on "Ocean's Eleven" and "Oceans Twelve," as well as Mike Nichols in "Closer," are among Roberts' collaborators, both of whom have received high praise from critics. She will next be seen alongside Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chlo Sevigny in the thriller "After the Hunt" directed by Luca Guadagnino.

David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, Cate Blanchett, Penelope Cruz, Robert Redford, and George Clooney have all received the Honorary César Award, which honors the career accomplishments of artists and filmmakers.

Roberts is involved in philanthropic endeavors in addition to her acting career, such as serving as an ambassador for UNICEF.
