‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Sets Premiere Date in New Teaser, Netflix Series to End With Season 3

Netflix has announced that the second season of the popular Korean drama "Squid Game" has been renewed for a third and final season. Additionally, a premiere date has been set for Season 2 of the show.

The second season will air on December 26, while the third will air in 2025. A video, which can be viewed below, was used to announce the premiere date and the conclusion of the season.

Additionally, series creator, director, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk wrote a letter to fans that included the following: "I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story."

The entire letter can also be found below. Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo are all returning to the cast, as previously mentioned. Among the new cast members are: Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an are the other members of this group.

Season 2's official description reads:

“Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 is still adamant about locating the players and putting an end to the cruel sport. Gi-hun begins his search in the most obvious of places with the help of this fortune: In the subway, look for the sharp-suited man playing ddakji. However, when his efforts finally bear fruit, the path to the organization's downfall turns out to be more perilous than he anticipated: He needs to enter it again to win the game.

Along with Hwang, Kim Ji-yeon is also an executive producer on "Squid Game." For Netflix, Firstman Studio produces.

The first season of "Squid Game" was the most watched television season ever on Netflix. Six Emmys were awarded to the show, which received 14 nominations. These include Hwang's win for best drama series director, Lee's win for best drama series actor, and Lee You-mi's win for best guest actress in a drama.
