Netflix will deliver the film in the U.S., as declared for the current week.

The film is described as a psychological portrait of opera singer Maria Callas and a "creative imagining." It takes place in the 1970s, close to her death, when she tries to regain her voice after losing it. According to a statement, the film is about "someone who decides to finally find her own voice, her own identity, and finally do something for herself."

The review in Variety states: In many ways, Jolie's performance is quite good. She grabs our attention from the moment she appears on screen, playing Maria as a wily woman who is imperious, mysterious, and combines the life force of a genius diva with the sad emotional fire of a femme fatale.

Following "Jackie" (2016) and "Spencer," Larran's work with iconic female protagonists continues with "Maria," her third film.

Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alba Rohrwacher, Pierfrancesco Favino, and Valeria Golino are among the actors in the film, which was written by Steven Knight (Spencer, "Peaky Blinders"). Juan de Dios Larran, Jonas Dornbach, and Lorenzo Mieli are the producers.

Fremantle, The Apartment, Fabula, and Komplizen are the production companies.

The movie was paid for by Fremantle Group.

More is coming.
