Jennifer Lopez Files for Divorce From Ben Affleck After Two Years of Marriage

Bennifer 2.0 is now over. Rolling Stone can confirm that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck filed for divorce on Tuesday, just two years after they tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022.

The filing was made pro se, or without an attorney, at the L.A. County Superior Court. Additionally, their separation was announced on April 26 of this year, according to the new filing. The filing of the divorce comes exactly two years after their traditional wedding on August 20, 2022.

Affleck and Lopez, now divorced from their post-Bennifer rebounds, Jennifer Garner and Marc Anthony, respectively, reunited in 2021 and, following another year-long courtship, married in July 2022, nearly two decades after Bennifer became arguably the hottest couple in Hollywood before their year-long romance and engagement crashed out in the aftermath of Gigli. Bennifer and Bennifer were arguably the hottest couple in Hollywood.

Bennifer 2.0 tied the knot in a chapel in Las Vegas before holding a more extravagant ceremony the following month in Georgia; Lopez gave a fully choreographed dance to a brand-new song to mark their union at that wedding ceremony.

In a Rolling Stone cover story, Lopez briefly mentioned her renewed relationship with Affleck, which she referred to as "having a second chance at real love." We've both developed. We are both alike and distinct. And that's nice,” she stated. We picked up a lot. We are aware of the real and the false. Simply put, the game has evolved.

In February, Lopez released the album This Is Me... Now, which was accompanied by a film. Soon after, she released an extravagant documentary with the now-regrettable title The Greatest Love Story Never Told. The marriage gave Lopez a creative boost.

According to Lopez, her team was hesitant to include her relationship with Ben Affleck in the releases' narrative. We must follow our hearts as artists,” she stated. And this is me doing something that maybe no one thought was the best, but I had to. It's me following my heart." Songs like "Midnight Trip to Vegas," which was about the wedding in Sin City, and "Dear Ben, Pt. II," a follow-up to her 2002 album This Is Me... Then's "Dear Ben," which was inspired by Ben Affleck.

Speculation that Affleck had left the couple's home and returned to living on his own in Los Angeles sparked rumors of the couple's impending breakup less than a year after they tied the knot. Lopez, on the other hand, was busy with her own movie, which included the release of Atlas, a sci-fi film on Netflix, and music obligations, such as getting ready for her upcoming tour.

However, Lopez canceled the entire This Is Me... Live tour on May 31, less than a month before it was scheduled to begin, in a move that fueled divorce rumors even more. A Live Nation representative denied that the canceled tour had anything to do with the reported low ticket sales that had previously led to the quiet cancellation of seven shows. "Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends," the representative said of the canceled tour.

In her own statement to fans, Lopez added: I'm heartbroken beyond words and devastated that I failed you. Please be assured that I would not perform this action if I did not believe it to be absolutely necessary. I swear I will repay you, and we will all be back together. I adore each of you so much. Until then,
