The controversial sci-fi epic "Megalopolis," directed by Francis Ford Coppola, will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Altercation has added that film and a few others, including Luca Guadadgnino's "Eccentric" featuring Daniel Craig and Pedro Almodóvar's "The Room Nearby" drove by Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton, to its 2024 setup. Altogether, 276 movies will screen at the current year's celebration, which is running from Sept. 5-15.
TIFF has scheduled special screenings of Damien Chazelle's 2014 film "Whiplash" and Mina Shum's 1994 comedy "Double Happiness" in addition to the official selection titles.
The 49th festival will open with Ben Stiller's "Nutcrackers," directed by David Gordon Green, and close with Rebel Wilson's directorial debut "The Deb," as previously announced. Different motion pictures currently on the timetable incorporate Ron Howard's endurance thrill ride "Eden," Marielle Heller's shock parody "Nightbitch" with Amy Adams, the enlivened "The Wild Robot" and John Crowley's "We Live in Time," featuring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh.
