Sundance: Aubrey Plaza Sci-Fi Comedy ‘My Old Ass’ Lands at Amazon MGM

My Old Ass, Megan Park's sophomore film, is in final negotiations to be released by Amazon MGM, with a wide theatrical release in North America planned.

The arrangement is fixed in the $15 million territory. After a dramatic window, the film will move to real time on Prime Video.

My Old Ass stars Maisy Stella as Elliot, a high schooler in a little Canadian town who is in her last month of summer before school when her and her companions guzzle in some evil sired shrooms. Elliot meets her older self, played by Aubrey Plaza, on her trip, and she gives her some advice and a warning: Avoid falling in love with a Chad-named boy.

"Not since Toy Story 3 employed its ability to diminish developed ass grown-ups to puddles of tears has a film been so in contact with the delicate sentiments related with venturing out from home and saying a conclusive farewell to youth, contemplatively pondering what we take with us and what we abandon," peruses THR's Sundance survey.

The film, which considers Margot Robbie's LuckyChap a maker, got a deeply heartfelt applause at its Sundance debut. Following the release of Emerald Fennell's Saltburn last year, this will be the studio's and LuckyChap's most recent collaboration.

The deal was negotiated by CAA Media Finance on the filmmakers' behalf.

This is the most recent seven figure offer of the 2024 fest, with Jesse Eisenbegr's A Genuine Aggravation going to Searchlight in a $10 million arrangement and the thrill ride It's Inside arrival at Netflix of r $17 million.
