‘Saturday Night Live’ Gives ‘Family Matters’ A Dark, Dramatic Twist With Urkel-Centered Peacock Series

Saturday Night Live gave Peacock a pitch for another Family Matters reboot, soon after the NBC decoration dropped a trailer for its emotional Fresh Prince series Bel-Air.

The trailer-like sketch highlights clearing clasps of Chicago, that follow a somewhat natural figure wearing splendid stripes through shabby roads. Chris Redd then, at that point, shows up as the adored Family Matters geek Steve Urkel, who was played by Jaleel White in the first series. Rather than his lively demeanor, Redd's Urkel takes on a more critical perspective on the world. As do different characters from the family parody.

"The ridiculous characters you cherished during the '90s with totally none of the fun or the appeal," the sketch depicts the series, appropriately named Urkel.

The sketch likewise highlighted have Ariana DeBose, Ego Nwodim, Mikey Day and Kenan Thompson. Indeed, even in the hazier tone, Urkel's still his peculiar self - somewhat. At the point when he gets Day's personality spending time with Nwodim's Laura Winslow, initially depicted by Kellie Shanygne Williams, he pummels him almost to death.

"Did I do that?" Redd's Urkel says with each punch.

Set to make a big appearance February 13, Bel-Air depends on Morgan Cooper's well known fan film that re-imagines the first series, and hails from Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith's Westbrook Studios and Universal Television.

West Side Story's DeBose, who just captured a SAG Award selection this week, made her Saturday Night Live facilitating debut. Jack Antonoff-drove Bleachers was melodic visitor, filling in for rapper Roddy Ricch, who exited because of Covid-19 openness.
