Michael B.Jordan and Austin Butler were already announced as part of the main cast.Other actors joining them are Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, and Danny Ramirez.
The movie, written by Dan Gilroy, who was nominated for an Oscar for "Nightcrawler," is based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich for the original show.
The show was produced by Yerkovich and Michael Mann.Eric Warren Singer had written an earlier version of the script.
The original 1984 "Miami Vice" pilot introduced the partnership between Sonny Crockett and Rico Tubbs.
These characters will be played by Butler and Jordan in the new film as they fight drug traffickers and other criminals in Miami Beach.
Filming for "Miami Vice '85" is set to start later this year, with a planned release date of May 19, 2028.
Dylan Clark is producing the film along with Kosinski, who is known for directing popular movies like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "F1." The project is being managed by Sara Scott and Christina Hoffrogge for Universal.
Leguizamo's latest role was as Eumaeus in Nolan's "The Odyssey," which has become the highest-grossing movie at Universal before adjusting for inflation.
It surpassed the $1.67 billion global total set by "Jurassic World" in 2015 during its ninth weekend in theaters.
