In its first weekend of release, "Jurassic World Rebirth" climbed to $171 million from 82 markets, demonstrating its dominance at the global box office.
Since Wednesday, the seventh film in Universal's venerable dinosaur franchise, which stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, has taken in an impressive $318 million worldwide, including $147 million at the US box office.
The long-running science fiction franchise is rebooted with a completely new cast and mission in "Jurassic World Rebirth," which was directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, the original screenwriter of "Jurassic Park." The film centers on a top-secret mission to retrieve dinosaur DNA in order to create a miracle drug. The series continues to be incredibly popular at the foreign box office, despite the latest installment's small decline in initial returns in North America. China has earned $41 million so far, followed by the UK and Ireland with $16.6 million, Mexico with $13.9 million, and Germany with $7.6 million for "Rebirth."
