Mia Goth has added a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to her resume, joining Marvel's "Blade," following a huge year in 2022 that included back-to-back performances that generated a lot of buzz, including those in "X" and "Pearl."
The film from Marvel Studios, which is said to be "darker than most MCU movies" and is narrated by Emmy nominee Michael Starrbury and directed by Yann Demange (Lovecraft Country, "White Boy Rick"), stars Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the title vampire slayer. Goth is a member of a star-studded cast that also includes Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre. However, the specifics of her role are being kept a secret.
After Wesley Snipes played the Marvel Comics character in three films between 1998 and 2006, the reboot of "Blade" was first announced at the 2019 Comic-Con. Marvel Studio chief Kevin Feige surprised Hall H by announcing that Ali would assume the role of the infamous daywalker. "Blade" is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Sept. 6, 2024, as the final film in Phase Five of the MCU.
Goth has been a standout performer in films like Luca Guadagnino's "Suspiria," Claire Denis' "High Life," Autumn de Wilde's "Emma," and Branden Cronenberg's "Infinity Pool," which had its world premiere earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Her big screen debut was in Lars von Trier's "Nymphomaniac."
With the release of "MaXXXine," Goth will next conclude her role in Ti West's horror trilogy for A24. During the '70s-set "X," Goth assumed double parts: a young woman named Pearl, an elderly woman named Pearl, and an aspiring adult film star named Maxine, whose cast members and crew members are brutally murdered throughout the slasher film. The spin-off, "Pearl," which Goth co-composed with West, fills in as a history for the title chronic executioner set in 1918. " MaXXXine” depicts the aftermath as Maxine, the sole survivor of the first film's heinous murders, embarks on a career as an actor in Los Angeles in the 1980s.
In a nine-minute monologue in January, Goth reflected on her experience with the trilogy as it became a pop culture phenomenon. Many people wondered if she could be considered for an Oscar.
"Pearl has on a very basic level transformed me as an entertainer," Goth told Assortment. " I now have a whole new sense of self-worth and self-assurance in terms of what I think I can accomplish.
She gave a tease about the final film in the trilogy: It's the greatest story of the three with the most elevated stakes and Maxine has gone through such a huge amount as of now. So when we track down her in this new world, she's simply an awe-inspiring phenomenon and she goes through a few pretty wild undertakings."
"MaXXXine" is presently underway, with Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon balancing the cast. Goth is also working on other big projects, like "Blade," She is also reportedly considering a Netflix role in the live-action "Frankenstein" movie with Andrew Garfield and Oscar Isaac.
Curtis Brown and WME are Goth artists.
The casting was first reported by Deadline. Wonder had no remark.
