Harrison Ford, Aimee Lou Wood, Cooper Koch, Kristen Bell, and Colin Farrell are among the 35 first-time acting nominees among the 2025 Emmy nominations.
Owen Cooper of Adolescence became the youngest candidate in the history of the category when he received a historic nomination for best supporting actor in a limited/anthology series or TV film. Cooper will also become the youngest male acting Emmy winner ever if he takes home the trophy later this year.
Cooper's Adolescence co-star Ashley Walters received his first Emmy nomination in the same category. Stephen Graham received a nomination for best actor in a limited or anthology series or film, while Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco received nods for best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or film, for a total of 13 nominations for the Netflix series.
For his performance as therapist Dr. Paul Rhoades in Apple TV+'s Shrinking, Ford received his first Emmy nomination on Tuesday. Alongside his co-star Michael Urie, he received a nomination for best supporting comedic actor.
With 23 nominations, The White Lotus tied with The Studio for third place. Wood received her first nomination for the best supporting drama actress category for her portrayal of Chelsea. In addition to Wood, Jason Isaacs (for supporting actor in a drama) and Scott Glenn (for guest actor in a drama series) are the first-time candidates from The White Lotus cast.
Farrell (The Penguin), Graham (Adolescence), Jake Gyllenhaal (Presumed Innocent), and Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) were the first-time nominees for best supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or film, making up four of the five total.
For his performance as Erik Menendez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix, Koch received a nomination. Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny received their first nominations for their roles as José and Kitty Menendez in the Ryan Murphy series, which was based on the Menendez brothers' real-life case.
Notably, Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese were nominated for their first acting Emmys for their work in The Studio. In addition, Zoë Kravitz and Anthony Mackie received awards for best actress and best guest comedic actor, respectively, for their roles in the Apple TV+ series. For his portrayal of Sal Saperstein, Ike Barinholtz also received his first acting nomination for best supporting actor in a comedy.
Bell and Adam Brody, who starred in Nobody Wants This, were also first-time nominees. The Netflix show won a prize for best comedy series as well. For her role in Hacks, Robby Hoffman received her first Emmy nomination in the comedy comedy best guest actress category.
First-time nominations made up half of the best supporting drama actor field. Zach Cherry and Tramell Tillman, who played Dylan George and Seth Milchick, respectively, in Severance, were nominated alongside Isaacs.
With a total of 27 nominations, including best drama series, Severance topped the Emmy rankings. For her depiction as Helly R in the Apple TV+ series, Britt Lower got her first nod for best drama actress. The Penguin received 24 nominations, more than Severance, including Deirdre O'Connell's nomination for best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series and Cristin Milioti's first acting nomination for best actress in a limited or anthology series.
Katherine LaNasa for best supporting actress in a drama series and Shawn Hatosy for guest actor in a drama were the two first-time acting nominees on the Pitt, which had 13 nominations altogether.
Every nominee for the award for best supporting actress in a TV film or limited or anthology series was a first-time applicant. Ruth Negga of Presumed Innocent and Jenny Slate of Dying for Sex received their first acting Emmy nods on Tuesday, joining Doherty, O'Connell, Sevigny, and Tremarco.
Alongside Tom Segura for Bad Thoughts, J.K. Simmons was nominated for Die Hart: Hart to Kill in the category of outstanding performer in a short-form comedy/drama series.
Along with Barinholtz, Ford, and Urie, Jeff Hiller, an actor from Somebody Somewhere, was one of four first-time candidates in the supporting comedy category.
